Holiday Care Packages for the Homeless 2018-2009

Every year in December at U.C. Hastings College of the Law, ABC volunteers get together to assemble and distribute holiday care packages for the homeless in the Tenderloin region of San Francisco. We put together approximately 350 bags every year, each containing a poncho, hat, gloves, scarf, fleece blanket, body lotion, chapstick, hand sanitizer, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues, snacks, holiday candy and a holiday card. Our volunteers then personally deliver the care packages to the homeless on the street as well as to local shelters that we have coordinated with in advance. Since 2016, thanks to some particularly generous donors, we were able to purchase and distribute over 300 sleeping bags along with our care packages. Our volunteers enjoy mulled wine, pizza, holiday cookies, and just a general feeling of awesomeness as we work to assemble the care packages.
